Google Web Fonts - Font Preview
Very nifty tool for properly setting web-type.
Definitely pre-ordering.
Explorations in Typography: Mastering the Art of Fine Typesetting (A Visual Textbook for Intermediate to Advanced Typography) is a vast collection of beautiful typesetting examples. Page after page, a brief article by Erik Spiekermann has been set in hundreds of different ways in hundreds of different typefaces, creating an extended visual taxonomy of typesetting that allows you to “learn by looking.”
With complete type specifications on every page and examples set in hundreds of faces (many from the FontFont library), the aggregate effect is an ersatz type catalog as well as an extensive resource of typesetting ideas.Explorations in Typography is sure to be instructive and inspirational to students and professionals alike.
Aurèle Sack’s LL Brown Bold, as featured in the PRINT’s latest (redesigned) issue.
Made this a while ago. Just found it.
One of my favorite design blogs has interviewed one of my favorite type foundries upon the release of their new typeface Apercu. I’ll take two.
Joy!
In reference to my post yesterday about D. Stempel AG’s 1913 typeface Reform Grotesk, I have managed to locate a few modern typefaces that closely resemble the classic. As it turns out there are quite a few Grotesks floating around these days (Klim has recently added a very nice Grotesk to the pile).
These are my favorites (From Top)
1. Reform Grotesk
2. FF Super Grotesk OT Regular
3. Aktiv Grotesk Standard
4. Neuzit® Office Com Regular
5. Drescher Grotesk Regular
All can be found @ FontShop (with the exception of Reform Grotesk of course)
